Tim Densem
Tim has held executive, senior management and engineering roles within electricity and gas network companies, electricity generator/retailers and tertiary training.
Between 2009 and 2013, Tim was CEO of the Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation.
Between 2002 and 2008, Tim occupied General Manager roles at Mighty River Power. Through most of that time, Tim led Mighty River Power’s hydro and thermal generation business unit (with assets of NZ$3b). Tim was also responsible for Metrix, one of New Zealand’s largest electricity metering businesses.
From 2000 until 2002, Tim was Operations Manager for United Energy in Melbourne. This role entailed leadership of some 250 staff, including field staff and dispatch centre operations. Tim was responsible for improving cost, staff and contractor safety performance and managing the organisation’s relationship with the safety regulator.
Between 1997 and 2000, Tim was Infrastructure Manager for United Energy in Melbourne. This role included strategy and capital planning for A$2.5b electricity and gas networks. Tim was centrally involved in the economic regulatory process regarding the required levels of network expenditure.
Tim Densem holds a PhD degree in electrical engineering and has completed undergraduate papers in economics, computer science and organisation management.
Tim has been a board member of the Electricity Industry Training Organisation and Damwatch. He was a trustee of the Waikato Ecological Enhancement Trust and has held governance roles at several educational and not-for-profit organisations. He is a fellow of the Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand and member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
